April 16th – May 1st
At the Webster Library Atrium Entrance

In its second year, the Booked exhibition includes book arts as well as typography books created by students in DART 280 (2D Digital Concepts) taught by Pata Macedo. Students have drawn on their personal experiences to bring together the concept of the book with a variety of structures, materials, and techniques in the production of these book objects. They demonstrate the artistry and inventiveness of their producers and create a unique multilayered reading for the viewer.

Curated by Pata Macedo and Melinda Reinhart \ poster + invitation designed by Jennie Persak.

BOOKED [by design students]

April 14th – May 6th, 2011 – Concordia University Webster Library Atrium Entrance

The artists’ books and book objects in this exhibition draw on the traditional form and concept of the book through diverse approaches and materials. These works have been produced by DART 280* students whose explorations of the book structure sometimes mimic the book format and other times experiment with the conceptual possibilities of the book as metaphor. Book works incorporate various techniques including printmaking, graphic design and typography, bookbinding, photography, textiles or sculpture. Inviting multiple readings, the visual constructions in this exhibition underline the boundless possibilities of the book as an art form.
